The memorial is interesting and well designed, well worth visiting. The cafe however, was not impressive, as they forgot about my food and sold it to someone else. They refunded me the difference, but I still felt they could have shown a greater concern for their poor service.

Great lookout for sunset and photo's, there is a restaurant on top of the big hill. Check for opening hours.

Waited in line with two people in front for lunch at 1230 and in waltzed one woman they new who yelled out and went behind counter she then went and spoke to a male whom looked like a manager . We meanwhile have had not one of the three staff standing behind counter barely able to put cutlery into napkins and standing doing nothing ask for our Order. Then we are next in line and the older female whom had gone behind the counter has come in

We both were in shock at not only how lazy the staff are but that they then serve someone out of line. We walked away and then thought NO. YOU deserve to learn your trade and if your not a hospitality type work else where.

In town. we cycled here (8+10 year olds). Nice cafe. Good views of town. Memorial is really nice and interesting. Kids interested in cause of deaths. In town and easy drive or cycle ( up a hill) worth half hour or more.

Reading the information at this Memorial is something I won't forget. Very sobering. Worth a look to reflect on Australian history.

It's spectacular the architecture and the position. BUT the cafe experience is such a negative .
